Supreme Court Invites Public Comment on Potential New Rule for the Advisory Committee on the Code of Judicial Ethics

The California Supreme Court welcomes public comment on proposed new rule 9.81 of the California Rules of Court, which would govern the composition, duties, and procedures for the Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Code of Judicial Ethics.  The committee considers and offers the court recommendations regarding possible amendments to the California Code of Judicial Ethics and its commentary.  The proposed new rule would set forth the committee’s mandate, composition, membership terms, procedures, and leadership.

All comments must be emailed to the Supreme Court at Rule_9.81_Comments@jud.ca.gov no later than April 24, 2026.  The court will take any comments received into consideration in evaluating possible amendments to the proposed new rule.
